The Role of Women’s Circles in Remembering Who We Are

Every day, the world we live in demands more from us. Particularly as women, our sense of identity is often tied to relational roles such as partner, wife, mother, daughter, sister and nurturer. My own journey of womanhood has seen me both rejecting my own femininity and moving towards the extreme end of being led by my masculine energy in different seasons of life. We do this as women, perhaps to compensate, to rebel or because we are, after all, just humans trying to find balance and understand what it means to be.

Many women I have spoken to have a shared sense of detachment, wondering if we’ve lost touch with something deep within us. For those of you who feel this, please know there are others out there feeling the same. A global sisterhood! This almost instinctual pull is in you for a reason. It is your own inner wisdom guiding you towards what you need to rediscover. It is you remembering your sense of being a woman, before society told you who you should, could and must be.

The Ancient Tradition of Gatherings

Women gathering Glastonbury

For generations, women have gathered to share wisdom, support, and strength.

For generations, women have gathered to share wisdom, support, and strength. When I look back at the ancient cultures and communities that I draw inspiration from and revere (Celtic, South African, Peruvian and more), they recognized how much power resided in women coming together. Gatherings are historically spiritual spaces of empowerment and healing, particularly those led by women. In our modern society, intentional shared spaces allow us to pause and reconnect with practices of self-reflection, mindfulness, and mutual support. Women’s gatherings allow us to honour the wisdom of our past, connect to our intuition and each other in the present, and create ripples of healing for the future.

“Women’s gatherings allow us to honour the wisdom of our past, connect to our intuition and each other in the present, and create ripples of healing for the future.”

The birth of such communities is a clear sign that we’re remembering that we belong to something much larger than ourselves. It is an homage to the lineage of women before us, and a return to what we already know.

Witnessing The Wisdom of Our Womb

Everyone has both feminine and masculine energies. As women, tapping into our feminine energy is returning to our core - listening to the wisdom of the womb. Women’s circles offer a safe space to do this through deep connection, compassion, and non-judgment. It is when we sit together, sharing stories and experiences, that we heal. Witnessing our own womb wisdom means connecting with cycles of our bodies, of nature, and of life. It is where we celebrate creativity and reconnect with our feminine, fertile energy. This is how we learn about sacred space and time, and how to honour our individual cycles to be most abundant.

It is a safe, supportive environment to explore questions that often go unasked: Who am I beyond the roles I play as a woman? What do I truly want for myself? How can I fully show up in my life with intention and authenticity? It is also a space to remember the shadow parts of ourselves that may have been forgotten or that we have hidden away. Participants have described our sessions as authentic, raw and vulnerable.

When we gather, we also learn to witness one another, women who may come from different walks of life but somehow mirror our experiences and our emotions. There’s an undeniable power in being witnessed by others who understand us, even if they are strangers at first. I cannot imagine something more beautiful than reclaiming our true feminine power amongst sisterhood.

An Invitation to Remember, Together

The spiritual path can be lonely. In many ways, the journey in a women’s circle is about finding our voice and reclaiming it, not just as individuals but as a community. This shared experience and sense of belonging are what shapes our Remembership Community. Each one of us has the intention to pause, reflect, and rediscover self in the supportive company of others who are on similar journeys.

I created Remembership to be more than just a membership. By joining us, you are actively choosing to be part of a community that celebrates ourselves and each other as we cultivate a culture of remembrance - remembering who we are, where we come from, and the deep wisdom we hold within.

“There is so much potential for our global sisterhood and collective healing. I truly believe that the future of women’s circles is remembering our past.”

And Remember - you are whole, worthy and wonderful, just as you are!
